The Elsie is an AP blast mine developed by the Canadian Army in the early 1960s. The C3A1 and C3A2 are similar in design and function, and only vary with slight cosmetic differences and a type of explosive. The C3A1 uses a tetryl explosive charge. Once armed, sufficient force on the top of the charge assembly pushes it down, compressing the striker pin.
